University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app excels in QS Subject Rankings

Mining engineering and nursing top ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's subject rankings

The University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app’s (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app) excellence across a range of academic subjects was showcased in the QS Rankings by Subject 2024, released today (Wednesday 10 April) by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app performed strongly, ranking among the world’s best in 30 narrow subject areas and in all five broad subject areas, underscoring the University’s success in delivering high-quality education and research across diverse disciplines.

In two narrow subject areas, mining engineering and nursing, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app was ranked in the top 100 universities in the world.

Engineering and Technology was ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app’s best performed broad subject area, standing equal 212^th globally reflecting the University’s excellence in engineering and information sciences.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app ranked 223^rd in Natural Sciences (a rise of 42 places on the previous year), equal 249^th in Social Sciences and Management (up nine places), equal 258^th in Arts and Humanities globally, and equal 374^th in Life Sciences and Medicine (up 14 places).  

QS analysed the reputation and research output of close to 5,000 universities to produce the rankings.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia M. Davidson thanked staff for enhancing ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app’s standing on the global stage. 

“The latest QS Rankings by Subject reaffirm ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's commitment to academic excellence and innovation,” Professor Davidson said.

“We are proud of our faculty, staff, and students for their relentless pursuit of knowledge and their contributions to shaping a brighter future.

“As ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app continues to uphold its standards of excellence, these rankings serve as a testament to the dedication of our staff to providing a world-class education experience and making a positive impact on society.”

In other notable achievements ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app ranked in the top 150 in the world in sports-related subjects, civil and structural engineering, and materials science; and in the top 200 in archaeology, accounting and finance, business and management studies, law, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, geography, geology, and geophysics.
