It's Go Time! ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app welcomes students with exciting O-Week lineup

Four-day festival welcomes new students with cultural ceremonies, faculty events, and campus-wide celebrations

The University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app) will welcome thousands of students at its ‘It's Go Time!’ O-Week event running from Monday, February 24 to Thursday, February 27 at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app campus.

The four-day orientation program will begin each day with a traditional Aboriginal ceremony at the Duck Pond Lawn, followed by a Welcome to Country and faculty-specific introductions. The program has been carefully designed to help students build connections, discover their academic purpose, develop resourcefulness, and enhance their capabilities as they begin their university journey.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic and Student Life) Senior Professor Sue Bennett said the transition to university life is a significant milestone, and O-Week ensures students start their journey with confidence.

“We've created an immersive program that goes beyond basic orientation. It's about building a sense of togetherness and connection between students and their peers, their chosen disciplines, and the broader university community,” Professor Bennett said.

“At O-Week, students will gain not only practical knowledge about university systems and resources but also develop an understanding of university life that is crucial for their academic journey."

The faculty-specific orientation days begin with Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities on Monday, February 24, followed by Business and Law on Tuesday, February 25. Science, Medicine and Health students will attend on Wednesday, February 26, while Engineering and Information Sciences concludes the event on Thursday, February 27.

Students can explore campus life through guided tours, engage with student organisations, and enjoy live music performances. The festival zone will feature various student engagement activities, free refreshments, and access to essential university services including enrolment support and student ID processing.

International students will benefit from dedicated welcome sessions and specialised support services, ensuring they receive comprehensive guidance as they adjust to both university life and their new environment. All orientation activities will run from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM, providing students with a full day of engagement and essential information.

The University is also hosting its ‘Get Started’ event today (Thursday, 20 February) offering new students their first taste of university life through personalised support services, academic workshops, and peer connection activities at the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app campus.
