Strong performance across the board in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025

The University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app) has showcased significant improvement across multiple disciplines in the prestigious QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025.

The rankings, which evaluated over 5,200 institutions worldwide and ranked 1,747 universities across 55 subject areas, highlight ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's continued strength in Engineering and Technology.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app improved in four of the five broad subject areas, with Engineering and Technology climbing 20 places to rank equal 192nd globally, complementing ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app’s reputation as a leader in engineering education and research. In Natural Sciences ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app moved up 20 places to equal 203rd in the world, Social Sciences and Management moving up nine places to equal 240th, and Life Sciences and Medicine rising 22 places to equal 352nd.

In narrow subject areas, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app maintained its position among the world’s elite institutions in two key disciplines, with Mining Engineering and Nursing both ranked in the top 100. Nursing achieved an impressive score of 78.4, highlighting the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's excellence in healthcare education.

The university achieved notable improvements in several narrow subject areas: Archaeology, Philosophy, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology. Additionally, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app ranked for the first time in Politics & International Studies.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app maintained stable rankings in 19 subject areas, indicating consistent quality offerings across a broad range of disciplines.

Interim Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Eileen McLaughlin said the results reflect the University's ongoing commitment to research excellence and quality education.

“We're pleased to see significant improvements in four of our five broad subject areas which demonstrate the impact of our research and teaching quality,” Professor McLaughlin said.

“Our continued strength in Engineering and Nursing, both ranked in the global Top 100, showcases ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's world-class capabilities in these critical fields.”

The QS World University Rankings by Subject are based on academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, and international research network, with different weightings applied across disciplines.
