Research, international outlook drive strong World University Rankings result

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app placed among the top 1 per cent of universities globally in new times higher education rankings

The University of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app (ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app) has maintained its position among the top 1 per cent of universities globally in the Times Higher Education (THE) 2025 World University Rankings, announced today (Wednesday 9 October).

The University's commitment to academic excellence, global collaboration, quality research and industry engagement has been reflected in its impressive results.

Internationally, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app was ranked in the top 201 – 250 band, and in national standings was ranked equal 11th in Australia, up from equal 12th last year.

ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app Interim Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Dewar AO expressed his pride in the University's sustained performance and its standing on the world stage.

“The Times Higher Education 2025 World University Rankings reaffirm ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's reputation as a leading global institution, positioning the University to continue innovation, promote research excellence, and international engagement in the years to come,” Professor Dewar said.

"These rankings underscore the exceptional work of our academics and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's ongoing dedication to excellence in research, education, and global collaboration.”

One of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's noteworthy strengths in the 2025 rankings was its performance in the International Outlook pillar, where it is ranked 101st globally. This highlights ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's strong international partnerships, diversity in both staff and student populations, and global collaboration in research.

The University also excelled in Research Quality, which remains a key driver of the ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app's international reputation. ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½app ranked 207th in this pillar, with research excellence and citation impact being significant contributing factors to this high score.
